A History of Putting Government First

In 2000, GovDelivery partnered with local Minnesota governments to develop GovDelivery Communications Cloud, a solution that originally focused on email communication to the public and has grown to represent the leading multichannel distribution software for government communications.

GovDelivery has since made its mark on government-to-citizen digital communication in all levels of government. We are honored to work with more than 1,000 government organizations in the U.S. and Europe.

Here’s a timeline of recent activities:

  • September 2009 – GovDelivery and GovLoop, the leading knowledge and social network for government workers, join together in order to give GovLoop a platform for rapid expansion.
  • January 2010 – Industry innovator, Actua Corporation partners with management to acquire 100% ownership of GovDelivery from all other shareholders, giving GovDelivery the opportunity to accelerate investment in its software, infrastructure and team.
  • August 2010 – ForeSee Results and GovDelivery partner to deliver an integrated solution to their shared government clients. This helps clients better track and understand how digital communication with the public impacts openness, transparency, communication and participation goals.
  • May 2011 – GovDelivery receives Inner City 100 Award as one of the 100 fastest growing companies in the inner city from Initiative for a Competitive Inner City.
  • July 2011 – GovDelivery becomes a delivery partner for Jadu and develops a range of integrated widgets for the Jadu MarketPlace to open up new channels for government-to-citizen communications. Citizens can self‐serve based on their interests, giving them better control over their online experience.
  • September 2011 – GovDelivery helps State of Indiana reach more than 1 million Indiana residents.
  • October 2011 – GovDelivery announces major enhancements to GovDelivery Communications Cloud, allowing customers to improve the reach, efficiency and results of citizen communications.
  • November 2011 – GovDelivery receives the 2011 Deubener Award from the Saint Paul Area Chamber of Commerce. GovDelivery was honored as a business that exemplifies growth, excellence, risk, diversity and innovation.
  • December 2011 – GovDelivery’s CEO Scott Burns named One of 200 Minnesotans to Know by Twin Cities Business magazine.
  • January 2012 – GovDelivery acquires GovInteract, gains ability to deliver messages by phone, and enhances emergency notifications solution.
  • February 2012 – GovDelivery Federal client sends the 10 billionth email
  • February 2012 – GovDelivery Chosen as Cloud Computing Supplier for UK Government G-Cloud Initiative
  • May 2013 – The Initiative for a Competitive Inner City (ICIC) and FORTUNE announces that GovDelivery was selected for the 2013 Inner City 100, a list of the fastest-growing inner city companies in the U.S.
  • July 2013 – GovDelivery achieves Impact Level 2 (IL2) security accreditation as part of its G-Cloud programme.
  • October 2013 – GovDelivery is recognized in the Washington Post as the number-one source of referral traffic to

  • August 2014 - GovDelivery's CEO Scott Burns named a Titan of Technology by Minneapolis St. Paul Business Journal
