Automation makes GovDelivery a truly unique and powerful system for managing email communication with citizens. GovDelivery has proprietary functionality that 'watches' web pages for updates. This is the driving force behind the automation, allowing organizations to proactively send updates when changes occur on their websites.
What it Does
You set up the web pages, files, or sections of pages that will be updated. The system proactively generates email alerts when changes are detected. The alerts are sent automatically to subscribers or to the appropriate administrator for approval and routing.
How it Works
- GovDelivery's 'Page Watch' code checks the website for changes every hour.
- An email notifying subscribers of updates can be sent either automatically, or go through an administrator first, for approval. Administrators also have the option of customizing emails to subscribers to include more detail about the updated content.
- Page Watch also provides the option of tagging specific parts of pages to be monitored. This enables organizations to exclude certain changes (such as a simple date change) from email notifications.
This is a view of tagged content. Here, the "Regular Job Openings" section is monitored. Whenever a regular opening is changed, subscribers receive an email with a link to that page. A page may have multiple sections on it that are monitored; ensuring citizens receive very specific updates.
