Governor Rick Perry has worked to bring many Texas government services online to better serve residents and businesses. In a continued effort to make government accessible "24 hours a day, 7 days a week" the Governor's Office turned to GovDelivery® email Subscription Management to communicate important state information to the general public via email while reducing printing, postage, and faxing costs.
GOVERNOR'S OFFICE NEEDS
- Use email to communicate important information and upcoming events in the Governor's Office.
- Institute an automated email communication system that will leverage internal publishing efficiencies.
- Notify interested citizens immediately when content is updated to the website.
The Governor's Office selected GovDelivery, a web-based solution that monitors websites for content updates and automatically generates email alerts when changes are detected on designated webpages.

The Texas Governor's Office used GovDelivery to send out more than 45,000 emergency email notifications during the Hurricane Katrina disaster in order to communicate evacuation and recovery information to citizens.

RESULTS
Since launching GovDelivery in April 2005 the Texas Governor's Office has:
- Sent more than 1,000,000 email notifications to subscribers.
- Signed up more than 9,500 subscribers.
- Generated an additional 135,000+ hits to their website.
