Text messages provide a succinct messaging channel for appropriately brief, time-sensitive content. GovDelivery Direct SMS serves the growing population of wireless device users, allowing agencies to reach individuals with urgent, real-time information, directly to their mobile devices.

Direct SMS sends can be initiated in one of two ways:
1. Direct SMS alerts can be sent automatically when website content is updated.
2. A Direct SMS alert can also be created manually within GovDelivery when necessary, such as for Amber Alerts, weather emergencies and other critical situations.
