Jan 23 2012 | Louisville, Ky., Integrates Alerts into New Crime Map Louisville, Ky., residents now have access to crime alerts in a newly revamped online crime mapping tool. Users can enter their home address into a QuickFind tool to receive crime updates based on which of the county’s eight police divisions they live in. Each division is further divided into different “beats” — or different sections of a division — so citizens can receive more granular crime alerts for where they live.

Nov 4 2011 | Farm Service Agency to end printing of newsletter, moves to GovDelivery Hard-copy mailing of the Farm Service Agency’s Newsletter will be phased out, as cost cuts remove the paper printing and delivering of the newsletter, and make way for the digital form. Producers should enroll in the new GovDelivery system to receive timely notices, newsletters and electronic reminders. Hard copy mail will be phased out. GovDelivery helps FSA become more efficient. Moving to electronic notifications helps conserve resources and save taxpayer dollars, officials said.

Oct 31 2011 | Chicago Transit Authority set to launch Twitter, Facebook accounts The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) is set to take its plunge into social media starting Tuesday. The CTA will launch Twitter and Facebook accounts to provide information about bus and rail service, "tidbits and interesting stuff" as well as to communicate with customers, CTA spokeswoman Molly Sullivan said. "We are doing this because the time has come for us and we want to join the conversation," Sullivan said. "We are eager to respond to people via Twitter, and we hope people will 'like' us on Facebook and post on our wall."

Jan 16 2012 | White House hopes new website will help create jobs The Obama administration is building a new online presence to empower job creators with the information -- and financing -- they need to reverse the nation's unemployment figures. Business.USA.gov will be aimed at simplifying the ocean of economic-related information floating throughout the dot-gov domain, administration officials said Friday. With unemployment at 8.5 percent this election year, officials announced a government reorganization that would consolidate federal agencies that support business and trade. Already, e-communications vendor GovDelivery has begun pushing out information for people who register on the site for email and social media updates. According to data aggregated from more than half the federal agencies in the firm's client base, GovDelivery Chief Executive Officer Scott Burns said the site is guaranteed to attract a high volume of visitors.

Jan 9 2012 | GovDelivery acquisition adds voice alert option GovDelivery, a St. Paul company that manages email and text message communications for governmental entities, will announce today that it has bought a New Jersey startup that will allow it for the first time to deliver voice messages by phone. Terms of the deal were not released. The acquisition of Gov-Interact of Nutley, N.J., was a strategic acquisition that gave GovDelivery the ability to deliver voice alerts, GovDelivery chief executive and co-founder Scott Burns said.

Jan 9 2012 | GovDelivery acquires New Jersey firm GovDelivery Inc. has acquired a New Jersey company that markets technology government agencies use to interact with the public. St. Paul-based GovDelivery didn’t disclose terms of its deal to buy GovInteract (GovI), which has about 20 employees. Nutley, N.J.-based GovI’s technology allows governments to alert citizens of emergency situations via e-mail, phone or text message. The company's services also make it easier for citizens to report pothole sightings, code violations and other issues.
