GOVDELIVERY SUCCESS STORY

Seattle residents stay on top of public health news with GovDelivery

www.metrokc.gov/health

How do you stay on top of the latest pandemic flu updates?  How do you find out about the most recent product recalls?  Seattle & King County residents need not look any further than their inboxes.

Since Seattle & King County Public Health launched GovDelivery, residents can sign up to receive the latest health news on anything from bioterrorism preparedness to solid waste disposal.  As soon as any of these topics are updated on the website, subscribers are immediately notified, allowing the department to provide both day-to-day and emergency health notifications.

In addition, Seattle & King County Public Health uses GovDelivery to gather additional information on subscribers, including the city they live in, how often they visit the website, and what they use information for, which helps the department better understand and communicate with its residents.

Since launching GovDelivery in May of 2006, Seattle & King County Public Health has:

PRODUCT NEWS
Give residents more choice with GovDelivery’s Public RSS feeds

GovDelivery makes it easy to offer RSS feeds on your website.  Any topic you have made available for subscription can also be offered as an RSS feed, and residents can view their updates from you in the RSS reader of their choice.  In addition, GovDelivery Public RSS feeds enable you to offer residents a broader range of topics than typical RSS feeds and reach subscribers even when there are no changes to the website.

TriMet (www.trimet.org), a transit authority service the Portland, OR metro area, recently implemented GovDelivery’s Public RSS feeds on its website.  TriMet currently offers over 115 Public RSS feeds, giving riders the choice of receiving updates via e-mail or RSS.
