Minnesota Department of Health Offers Health Alerts to Citizens
Excerpt from National Public Health Information Coalition Newsletter * Vol. 15 No. 4 * August 2004

MINNESOTA Oh, the wonders of modern technology!  Now, Minnesotans - and anyone else for that matter - can subscribe to receive automatic e-mail notices when information is added to certain topic areas on the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) Website.

Reporters can sign up to receive e-mail messages every time a news release is published.  Citizens can sign up for e-mail notification when the department issues a public health alert and posts it to the website.  "Subscribers" to the service will get an e-mail message containing a link back to the requested information.

"It's a great way to improve customer service and save money at the same time," said MDH Communications Director John Stieger.  "We also hope it will help the general public become better informed about important public health issues."

Survey Names Top 10 Digital County Governments:
Includes GovDelivery Customers Snohomish County, WA and Stearns County, MN

The top-10 most technologically-advanced, cutting-edge county governments in the United States have been named by the Center for Digital Government and the National Association of Counties (NACo) in their 2004 Digital Counties Survey.

The 2004 Digital Counties Survey examined how county governments are evolving in their use of information technology (IT) to deliver services to their citizens.

GovDelivery customer Snohomish County, Washington was included in the Top-10 for counties over 500,000 in population, and Stearns County, Minnesota was also included in the Top-10 for counties 150,000 or less.

Both Counties use GovDelivery's E-mail Subscription Management System.  Stearns County launched in September 2001 and Snohomish County launched in November 2002.
