Position Summary
The Technical Support Specialist works within the Support group to provide second-level technical support on production software.
The Technical Support Specialist is a detective whose knowledge in relational databases, UNIX scripting, web application administration, and general knowledge of Internet communication protocols provides a valuable insight for solving problems. This position provides a bridge between customer support, technical operations, client implementation and product development.
The successful applicant will be customer focused, have a good technical aptitude and excellent communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Provide second-level technical support for GovDelivery production software
- Create custom reports and SQL to fulfill customer requests
- Provide detailed bug and enhancement requests to the Development Team
- Participate in rotating on-call application support
Requirements
- Technical degree in Computer Science or related field (2 yrs) or equivalent experience
- Excellent organization skills
- Technical customer support experience
- Strong communication skills
- Experience working with the UNIX command line
- Experience in advanced HTML methods
- Experience working with Oracle or SQL
- Self starter
Secondary Candidate Requirements
- Experience working with enterprise SaaS or web-hosted software
- Experience with email technologies on the server and client side
- Experience with scripting languages in UNIX
- Experience with a ticketing system such as SalesForce or a bug system
- Experience in the Java or Ruby programming languages
